It is normally not enough for students to prepare translations of passages for biblical Hebrew exegesis courses. This does not necessarily give them a sense of what kinds of questions they should be asking of the text. After all, exegesis is about knowing what game is being played and how to play it. To some degree the in-class discussion of the text will provide this guidance, but a resource that helps students to ask the right questions on their own will make them more independent and better prepared to interact.
