We report the outcome of a research project which has the goal to develop a theoretical framework that makes it possible to gain an advanced understanding of employees\u27 technostress perceptions in organizations. We argue that such a framework is urgently needed, because empiricism has far outstripped theory-building in the field of technostress. In the course of analyzing theories of stress used in organizational research, we identified cybernetics as a potentially fruitful theoretical lens through which technostress in organizations can be studied.
