In this article, I present philosophy understood as a way of life and ask about its relevance or its loss of timeliness in ‘contemporaneity.’ At the beginning I define what is the philosophical way of life and what are its characteristics. Then, I point to two aspects of human ‘nature,’ which condition the achievement of this way of life: the need for a coherent identity and a comprehensive existential project (goal).The second point shows the ‘contemporaneity’ in its tension between modernity and the ‘post‑contemporaneity.’ I refer here to the characteristics of the latter, formulated by Zygmunt Bauman.
