220-224Measurement of point discharge current (PDC) was made by means of a bipolar logarithmic amplifier at Visakhapatnam, from the beginning of October 1972 to the end of October 1974. Simultaneously, some of the meteorological parameters were also observed. As a result of the measurements, the following inferences were made: (i) fair weather discharge current undergoes small fluctuations with temperature, (ii) a positive correlation between the positive PDC and wind velocity, (iii) an enhancement of PDC during fog, (iv) an enhancement of PDC due to the influence of atmospheric aerosols, (v) a variable and negative PDC under partially cloudy conditions, and (vi) a frequent sign-reversal of PDC during lightning discharges
