Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) architectures can enhance performance by exploiting fine-grained instruction level parallelism. The energy efficiency of the VLIW architecture is determined by the underlying hardware and compiler technologies. In VLIW (very long instruction word) architectures, an instruction word consists of a variable number of individual instructions.
