The ophidian accidents represent a serious public health problem in Brazil, as well as economic damages in the production systems. The components of the Bothrops genus are considered the most responsible (about 90% of the cases). Currently the only treatment recommended by the responsible organs is the use of antiophidic serum, which is not effective in remission of local symptomatology, and presents difficulties in obtaining and cost of the commercial product.
