Optical studies on Grandjean lines observed in a cholesteric Cano wedge with strong anchored surfaces, enable a discussion to be given of the different models proposed for the structure of these lines. Observations are made on cholesterics with very large pitches under various kinds of illumination : bright field, phase contrast and dark field.
