The two associated particles of the (d, d) reaction, 3He and neutron, are detected by a p-n silicon jonction and a plastic scintillator respectively. The time interval between these two events is measured by a transistorised time-to-pulse height converter, with an over-all resolution of 3 to 4 ns.
