The effect of heat treatment on the stress-magnetization properties of Co base amorphous wire with negative magnetostriction constant was investigated. The sample changes its magnetostriction constant sign from negative to positive value due to heat treatment. The surface domain configuration was observed to reveal the mechanism of this change. Magnetic field annealing induced asymmetric hysteresis curve and this curve shows quite different characteristics from annealing without any applied field. The appearance of asymmetric hysteresis is due to one directional arragement of magnetization vector
