Propylene oxide is produced by reacting propylene and tert-butyl hydroperoxide in liquid phase. The reaction is exothermic and will be running in a fixed bed single tube reactor. The reactor will be operated in anadiabatic condition at temperature of 110°C and pressure of40 atm.The products and excess reactants are separated by usingdistillation column, absorber, stripper, and bubble column. The main product is propylene oxide99.8% with side products tert-butyl alcohol98.8%. This plant will be operated at a capacity of 240,000 tons/year. Raw material used are 20,72.48 kg/hour of propylene and 43,830.45 kg/hour of tert-butyl hydroperoxide.
