PRARANCANGAN PABRIK NITROBENZENE DARI BENZENE DAN ASAM CAMPURAN KAPASITAS 200.000 TON/TAHUN

Nitrobenzene (C6H5NO2) is an aromatic compound. In athmosperic condition, it will take the form of liquid and the color varies from pale yellow until browny yellow depends on its purity. Approximately 95% of Nitrobenzene in the world was produced to be used as raw material for aniline production. Other uses of nitrobenzene are as solvent and also as raw material for the production of other chemical derivatives. The need for nitrobenzen increases approximately 3-6% during 2003-2015. At this rate, the need for nitrobenzen will reach the amount 1,446,867 tons/year in 2016. Nitrobenzene is prepared by reacting benzene with a mixture of nitric acid and sulphuric acid. Because this reaction is exotermic, cooling mechanism is needed to keep the reactor�s temperature stays at 50°C. The product from the reactor will then be purified by separation process using decanter and distillation column in order to get the desired purity. The plant is planned to be built in Tuban, East Java. The plant�s area would be 7 hectares wide and the plant�s capacity would be 200,000 ton/year. The production of nitrobenzene would need 16,225 kg/h of benzene, 13,048 kg/h of nitric acid, and 22 kg/h of sulphuric acid as raw material
