Segregação residencial, isolamento social e fracasso escolar: o caso da Rocinha

The study aims to discuss some issues that contribute to the reproduction of trajectories of school failure of some Rocinha children, who study in schools of the municipal school network, notably in the fourth grade of Elementary School. Children from favelas when enrolled in municipal schools are allocated to schools that mostly congregate students from the same community, giving them no chance to relate to others from different localities. This ends up involving them in a network of relationships directly linked to school factors, home location and social position. A vicious circle where the socio-territorial dynamic ends up engendering a series of factors that contribute to the perpetuation of inequality and the social isolation of this less favored population.O estudo visa debater algumas questões que contribuem com a reprodução de trajetórias de insucesso escolar de algumas crianças da Rocinha, que estudam em escolas da rede municipal de ensino, notadamente na quarta série do Ensino Fundamental. Crianças oriundas de favelas quando matriculadas em escolas municipais são alocadas em escolas que em sua maioria congregam alunos de uma mesma comunidade, não dando chance a essas crianças de se relacionarem com outras oriundas de diferentes localidades. Isso acaba envolvendo-as em uma rede de relações diretamente ligada aos fatores escola, localização domiciliar e posição social. Um círculo vicioso onde a dinâmica socioterritorial acaba engendrando uma série de fatores que concorrem para a perpetuação da desigualdade e do isolamento social dessa população menos favorecida
