We can date the beginning of today's global movement-Fair Trade into the period after the Second World War, into the forties. The way of trade, called Fairtrade, is an alternative approach to conventional trade and is based on a long-term partnership between the producer and the consumer. The basic goals that the movement is determined to achieve are greater equity in international trade, ensure fairer trading conditions and create opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers in developing countries.
