This work is devoted to analyzing the political and socio-economic development in South Africa between the years 1978-1989. At that time the apartheid regime was revised for the first time since its official introduction. This period of so-called reform apartheid is associated mainly with the Prime Minister Pieter Willem Botha, who began to reform apartheid in an attempt to retain political and economic power in the hands of white South Africans.
