L’estratègia concessiva, un repte en l’ensenyament de l’argumentació

Concession is defined only very briefly in most of the school textbooks that we examined. Some (very few) include it within a series of logical resources for the analysis and production of argumentative texts in the so-called ‘concessió a l’adversari’ (adversarial concession), although none of the books relate the resource with the way it is to be expressed. We consider that in teaching how to produce argumentative texts, what we call concessive strategy is an essential linguistic resource and, therefore, our proposal includes an analysis of the concessive structures (traditionally separated from pragmatics) with the aim of teaching how to produce the texts we are dealing with here. To put it simply, the linguistic description (syntactic, in this case) and the pragmatic function of these clauses should merge in one direct application.
