This dissertation contends that social movements who advocate for Food Sovereignty (FS) can influence rural policy changes and counter the Corporate Food Regime by using strategic three-dimensional alliances with civil society, State and international actors to defend autonomous methods of production and bottom-up ways of knowing in front of agricultural neoliberal policies. The Agrarian Strike of 2013 in Colombia shows that these movements can have influence even in contexts of violence and historic neglect of peasants as political subjects.
