The Vanguardism of the Lateness According to Theodor W. Adorno

Indexación: Revista UNABEl presente artículo versa sobre la fragmentaria reflexión de Theodor W. Adorno sobre lo tardío en el arte. Específicamente, en el artículo se pretende explicar los aspectos sociofilosóficos relativos a la afirmación del filósofo sobre el logro del estilo tardío como el más alto criterio para determinar la valía de los artistas. Con ello también se aspira a dar unos pasos para demostrar, por un lado, el carácter insoslayable de lo tardío para comprender la noción adorniana del arte moderno como promesse du bonheur quebrada y, por otro, abriendo un horizonte más amplio, el modo en que el pensamiento sobre lo tardío condensa paradigmáticamente su estética negativa.This paper deals with the fragmentary reflection of Theodor W. Adorno on the “late style”. Specifically, the article aims to explain the sociological and philosophical aspects of Adorno’s statement on the achievement of late style as the highest criterion for determining the worth of the artists. Thereby this work also intends to take a few steps in the attempt to show, on the one hand, the unavoidable character of the “late style” in order to understand Adorno’s notion of modern art as broken promesse du bonheur and, on the other, how the thought about the lateness condenses paradigmatically his negative aesthetic
