Since the middle of the third century, the Roman Empire witnessed profound political and social transformations, including the expansion of the ruling class that incorporated high civil and military officials, later promoted to the senatorial rank. In this context, the emperors who managed to save the Empire from that crisis, from Maximinus onwards, were considered by the sources of their time as rude and uneducated men. It is our purpose to return to them in order to analyze the information they provide, and discover if the educational archetype they present with respect to the emperors corresponding to the late Roman period, underwent substantial changes considering as a starting point, the education of the rulers of the Golden Age...
