Ethnobotany is the branch of humanknowledge that studies the relationshipbetween plants and human. In Mexico,angiosperms have been mostly studied.However, there are seedless plants suchas the genus Equisetum that has animportant cultural value as evidenced inseveral communities, mainly due to itsbiochemical properties. In this paperwe presented a review of bibliographicalinformation supplemented withfieldwork information regarding thetraditional uses of this plant. Literatureon this topic indicate that Equisetumhave been employed, through time, indifferent cultures to alleviate severaldiseases and in other forms.
