Proceso enfermero en paciente pediátrico con meningitis e hidrocefalia

The study describes the nursing process in a pediatric patient with meningitis and hydrocephalus, using Marjory Gordon's functional health standards at the hospital level and the parent-child-environment interaction model by Kathryn Barnard at home. In-hospital diagnoses were prioritized based on the NANDA taxonomies regarding ineffective respiratory pattern, hyperthermia, constipation, acute pain, risk of infection and aspiration. The nutritional imbalance lower than the corporal needs, poor knowledge and anxiety of the parents, deterioration of the physical mobility and risk of fatigue of the caregiver role are identified during the home visits. The results demonstrate that reduction of anxiety prevent fatigue in the caregiver. Family integrity is achieved; and the same time this acquires the necessary knowledge to provide specific care for the child. In addition, it prevents and identifies complications in order to improve his/her quality of life.El estudio describe el proceso enfermero en paciente pediátrico con meningitis e hidrocefalia, utilizando como herramienta de valoración los patrones funcionales de salud de Marjory Gordon a nivel hospitalario y el modelo de interacción padre-hijo-entorno de Kathryn Barnard en el domicilio. Se priorizaron los diagnósticos intrahospitalarios en base a las taxonomías NANDA referente a patrón respiratorio ineficaz, hipertermia, estreñimiento, dolor agudo, riesgo de infección y de aspiración. Durante las visitas domiciliarias se identifica el desequilibrio nutricional inferior a las necesidades corporales, conocimientos deficientes y ansiedad de los padres, deterioro de la movilidad física y riesgo de cansancio del rol cuidador. Los resultados demuestran la prevención de cansancio en el cuidador, mediante disminución de la ansiedad. Se logra la integridad familiar; la misma que adquiere los conocimientos necesarios para brindar cuidados específicos en el niño. Además, previene e identifica las complicaciones con el propósito de mejorar su calidad de vida
