Electronic waste in the context of environmental education a case of study with high school teachers

The specific goals were to analyse the documents that support basic education regarding electronic waste, as well as to develop the master's educational product, a didactic sequence with activities on the generation of electronic waste so that the Teaching staff can use in their classes. The reason for choosing this research topic occurred when realizing that high school students generally own, use and replace electronic devices constantly. Most are not aware that these devices are harmful to health, the environment and produce an immense amount of waste. The motivation of this project was to demonstrate to the teachers of the Pilar Maturana State School that it may be possible to approach the electronic waste and treat environmental education in its classes. To accomplish this qualitative study, we verified the National curriculum guidelines, the laws of education guidelines and Bases, the national curricular parameters, the pedagogical political project at the Pilar Maturana State School and the Planning, to ascertain whether in one of them the electronic waste was perceived and how the environmental education was inserted. After this analysis off data collection, the questionnaire was applied with closed and open questions about the electronic waste with a focus on environmental education with the teachers working in high school, and the results were tabulated and the interviews started with a Professional of each high school discipline of the Pilar Maturana State School, accounting for twelve interviewees. After the conclusion of the interviews, the results were transcribed and tabulated. All stages of the process were essential in the rationale of the work and in the production of the master's product, a didactic material that presents concepts and laws on environmental education and electronic waste in the first chapter and, in the second chapter suggestions of Activities, in a sequence of thirteen classes. The teachers effectively participated in the research, reporting that the issues pertinent to the electronic waste and environmental education in the classroom will be more relevant, with the aim of demonstrating to students that this type of rubbish is harmful to health and the Environment, and mediate an awareness that we need to conserve the environment, thus avoiding exploitation.Este estudo refere-se a uma pesquisa realizada sobre o lixo eletrônico com enfoque na Educação Ambiental, que teve como objetivo geral verificar e analisar se os professores, atuantes no Ensino Médio do Colégio Estadual Pilar Maturana, situado no Bairro Alto na cidade de Curitiba – PR abrangem em suas aulas questões referentes ao lixo eletrônico. Já os objetivos específicos foram analisar os documentos que embasam a Educação Básica no que se refere ao lixo eletrônico, como também desenvolver o produto educacional do mestrado, uma sequência didática com atividades sobre a geração de lixo eletrônico para que o corpo docente possa utilizar em suas aulas. O motivo de ter escolhido este tema de pesquisa foi a percepção de que os estudantes do Ensino Médio em geral possuem, utilizam e trocam os equipamentos eletrônicos constantemente. Grande parte não sabe que estes aparelhos produzem o lixo eletrônico e que esse é prejudicial à saúde e ao meio ambiente. O propósito deste projeto foi demonstrar aos professores do Colégio Estadual Pilar Maturana que é possível abordar o lixo eletrônico e tratar a Educação Ambiental em suas aulas. Para realizar este estudo, de cunho qualitativo, verificaram-se as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais, as Leis das Diretrizes e Bases da Educação, os Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais, o Projeto Político Pedagógico no Colégio Estadual Pilar Maturana e os Planejamentos, para averiguar se em um destes documentos era contemplado o lixo eletrônico e como a Educação Ambiental estava inserida. Após esta análise para coleta de dados aplicou-se o questionário sobre o lixo eletrônico com enfoque em Educação Ambiental com os professores atuantes no Ensino Médio, tabularam-se os resultados e iniciaram-se as entrevistas com um profissional de cada disciplina do Ensino Médio do Colégio Estadual Pilar Maturana, contabilizando doze entrevistados. Após o término das entrevistas estas foram transcritas e tabularam-se os resultados. Todas as etapas do processo foram essenciais na fundamentação do trabalho e na produção do produto do mestrado, um material didático que apresenta conceitos e leis sobre a Educação Ambiental e o lixo eletrônico no primeiro capítulo e no segundo capítulo sugestões de atividades, numa sequência de treze aulas. Os professores participaram efetivamente da pesquisa, com isso elaborou-se um produto de cunho pedagógico intitulado como “apostila com sugestões de atividades sobre o lixo eletrônico no contexto da Educação Ambiental voltada para estudantes do Ensino Médio” para que este seja utilizado em suas aulas. Os professores relataram também que iriam se atentar mais às questões pertinentes ao lixo eletrônico e à Educação Ambiental em sala de aula, com a finalidade de demonstrar aos estudantes que este tipo de lixo é prejudicial à saúde e ao meio ambiente e mediar uma consciência de que precisamos conservar o meio ambiente, evitando assim o consumo exacerbado
