PERBEDAAN TINGKAT KERUSAKAN SEL ALVEOLUS PADA PARU TIKUS PUTIH JANTAN (Rattus Norvegicus Strain Wistar) DENGAN PAPARAN E-CIGARETTE DAN ROKOK KONVENSIONAL

Background: Smoking can effect on pulmonary organs, e-cigarettes are safer than conventional cigarettes and the number of smokers in Indonesia is increasing in number. Previous research have show that same harmful substances in e-cigarette and conventional cigarette can effects on alveolar damage. Objective: Determine the difference of pulmonary alveolar damage in male rats (Rattus norvegicus Wistar strain) on e-cigarettes and conventional cigarettes exposure. Method: This research was experimental with post test only control group design. Twenty five male rats were divided into 5 groups with one normal group and four treatment groups (being exposed to filter cigarette, clove cigarette, e-cigarette 0mg and e-cigarette 3 mg for 30 days). Observations lung histologic with hematoxylin-eosin staining using light microscopy 400x magnification. All data were analyzed with the Kruskal Wallis test and Post-Hoc test Mann Whitney Result and discussion: Kruskal Wallis test results showed that there were differences in the damage caused by smoking exposure (p = 0.003). The significant difference between the normal group with all treatment groups (Mann Whitney p 0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant differences in alveolar damage on wistar male rats by e-cigarettes and conventional cigarettes exposure
