En este artículo, realizaremos un análisis comparado entre la comedia El cadalso para su dueño (1780), de Manuel Fermín de Laviano, y Cimene Pardo (1782 aprox.), de Carlo Gozzi. En primer lugar, revisaremos el papel que cada dramaturgo tuvo en la traducción de obras italianas al español, y viceversa. A continuación, recopilaremos las fichas bibliográficas y los datos de representación y composición de ambos textos. Después, contrastaremos los personajes, acotaciones y episodios argumentales de la comedia de Laviano y el drama de Gozzi.
