In this paper, I will explicate howgeneralizations, oversimplifications,and reductionism are the inevitableconsequences of dualistic approaches inunderstanding the complex phenomenonof racism. Such racial-dualistic frameworksare not only inadequate and ambiguous,but could be harmful on many levels. Byutilizing a comparative analysis of Marxistdialectical-monist approach and a non-Marxist dualistic approach, I will contendthe effectiveness of the former approachas being more elucidating in treating theinterwined issue of race and racism.
