Gynecomastia is a benign proliferation of a glandular tissue which occurs in about 30% of adult male. During the neonatal period, puberty and aging, it is considered to be a physiological phenomenon and it occurs in up to 2/3 of the subjects. Pubertal gynaecomastia begins usually at age 13 to 14 years (SMR stage 3). Mostly regr esses within 18 months but, even in up to 20% cases, it may be persistent. Clinical features, that force us to look for pathology, include rapid progression of breast changes, dimensions of the gland exceeding 4 cm and persistence of gynecomastia over 12 months or after 17 years of age.
