Volume2/1986_October17Faculty, staff, students and families invited U OF U HEALTH EXPO ' 86 SET FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25 Bring your tired feet, stressed bodies, strained ears, out-of-shape muscles and curious minds to the University of Utah Health Expo "86 Saturday, October 25, and you'll go away with new ideas after a look at some of the most advanced technology in modern health care. Free to the public, U Health Expo ' 86 will be from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the University Hospital cafeteria. Displays, tours and mini-lectures will feature experts from the colleges of health, nursing and pharmacy, University Hospital, the School of Medicine and the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library. They will provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstrations, lifestyle assessments ( will you live to be 100?), blood pressure testing, organ donor information, diet analysis, healthy feet checks, hearing evaluations, fun and educational kids' activities and more. Visitors to the U of U Health Expo ' 86 will be invited to tour University Hospitals's emergency department and take a look inside an Airtled helicopter. Another tour option is the University's magnetic ( OVER) resonance imaging ccntsr- vvhcrs s high- tech magnet that pictures the body's internal landscape and can pinpoint difficult to diagnose medical problems. You and your family also can tour the College of Nursing's modern facilities and see how it's helping patients and their families. The College of Nursing has extended a special invitation to all individuals interested in returning to earn a B. S., Master's or Ph. D. degree. Faculty, academic advisors and Dean Linda Amos will be on hand to greet visitors and answer questions from 1- 4 p. m. Four 15- minute videotaped mini- lectures will be run continuously during Health Expo ' 86. They center on: " Genetics and Your Heart;" " High Tech- High Touch: A Winning Combination for Nursing Today;" " Popular ' Mythconceptions' Concerning Nutrition and Health;" and " Wellness: Key to Quality of Life." A fifth video presentation, " Frontiers of Medicine," will give the public an overview of research and programs under way at the U of U Health Sciences Center.
