D Mr Millard My work thru the last 1/2 doz yrs or [illegible] The last eventful yrs have lately been so full of interruptions scarce anything worth while has been done. After my delightful camping trip with President Roosevelt as you know I set out on a long trip with Prof [illegible] thru Europe Siberia Manchuria to China. Thence down to Singapore India Egypt Ceylon, Australia New Zealand & home by way of the Phillippines I most enjoyed studies in the Caucasus - Siberia Manchuria India esp[illegible] [illegible][illegible][illegible][illegible][illegible] Australia, [illegible][illegible][illegible] It is not true that any of the 200 or more [species?] of eucalyptus surpass in height our Big [trees?] or Redwoods [illegible] forests I failed to find a botanist who had ever seen or measured a tree in all Australia more than 300 [illegible] [illegible]One of the greatest interruptions to my regular work has been & still is the defense of the Yo Nat Park against a few San Francisco schemers who are trying to obtain H H next to Yo the most beautiful & useful features of the park as a reservoir for city water & [elsewhere?] [provider?] the abundance of pu[illegible] water is available elsewhere. The fight begun in Congress, last year will go on in the approaching session & I hope you can help us.
