[letterhead]New York, June 15 1893My own little darling Helen. I am very lonesome without you but I have your pretty picture & Wanda’s & I look at it very many times. You must be very careful not to play in the hot sun, & not to eat too much fruit to make you sick for papa wants his little girl to be happy & well always. Little Elfie I suppose keeps you from being lonesome. She is a funny little wriggle wiggle & I hope behaves well. You must not let her go out too much in the hot sun, for that is very bad for dogs as well as for people. There are many dogs in New York but none funnier or wigglier than Elfie.
