[1]Daggett, Cal.April 24thDear Papa -Your good letter of the 22d came yesterday - I had been thinking of your 70th birthday but couldn\u27t remember just the day. And the home flowers reached the desert as fresh and sweet and dear as though I had gathered them in my own little yard here. The roses are glorious. Mary has a big bunch of them in her house, and all of Mrs Funk\u27s extra pitchers and vases all full of flowers,04156[2]while my little shanty is a regular bower of roses. When I woke in the night I could smell Sweet Brier. I have hung a branch of Libocendrus just above my ever-beautiful Yosemite picture where it looks at home. The whole shanty is sweet. I only wish you could have seen how happy that box of flowers made me.All goes well here. I am as happy as ever and feel about sixteen. The weather is turning warm again and04156[3]is fine and clear today. My kitty is well and lively, he has learned to catch the big deer mice that come out at night.I must go now, to get this off on No. 3. Dont starve yourself while working on Stickeen.
