[EN] In the 19th and 20th centuries, a deterioration characteristic that has not seen in other historical periods is observed in the silk fabrics. The rapid degradation and the serious damage that the textiles from this period suffer, represent a significant conservation and restoration problem of this type of works. The source of this particular ageing is found in the weighting processes used in the manufacture of the silk of this period, which was a time of great innovation and industrial and scientific development. The new ways of adding mass to the silk fiber and the weighting agents so employed modified the silk fiber from its structure, determining its behavior and its resistance to the agents of deterioration and the passage of time. In order to understand the mechanisms of deterioration and damage caused by the burden in these textures, it is necessary to analyze how it affects the application of certain substances in the original characteristics of the silk fiber and their behavior against deterioration. Is it essential to understand this phenomenon because it subordinates the correct choice of conservation and restoration required processes in the treatment of such complex pieces with a damage as severe as these. The results obtained with the optimization of the tin-phosphate-silicate-process corroborate the purpose of this treatment in the production of silk pieces. There have been achieved the weighting levels specified by the dyers and the manufacturers that used this treatment in that period, verifying the specific purpose of each coat and the way in which the fiber is capturing the salts.[ES] a rápida degradación y los graves daños que sufren los textiles de los siglos XIX y XX, supone un importante problema de conservación y restauración de esta tipología de obras. La fuente de este particular envejecimiento se encuentra en los procesos de carga aplicados en la manufactura de la seda de este tiempo. Las nuevas formas de adicionar masa a la fibra de seda y los agentes de carga empleados con este fin, modifican la fibra de seda desde su estructura, condicionando su comportamiento y resistencia a los agentes de deterioro y el paso del tiempo. En este trabajo se analiza la influencia de la aplicación de ciertas sustancias en las características originales de la fibra de seda y en su comportamiento frente al deterioro. La comprensión de este fenómeno es primordial dado que subordina la correcta elección de los tratamientos de conservación y restauración acordes a las necesidades de estas obras. Los resultados obtenidos con la optimización del sistema de carga de fosfosilicato estánnico corroboran la finalidad de este tratamiento en la confección de las piezas de seda. Se han logrado alcanzar los niveles de carga especificados por tintoreros y manufactureros de la época que empleaban este tratamiento, verificando el objetivo concreto de cada baño y la manera en la que la fibra va captando las sales.Bartolomé Sáenz, Y.
