Man and Environment: Personal Order as Universal

This thesis concerns my search for the existence of a personal aesthetic and its effect on the creative sculptural process. It is my premise that personal intuition regarding sculptural form and compositional relationships has a resulting universality. My interest and concern for other life forms and their treatments by man foster my choice of visual expression. Photography has been used as a catalyst and as a parallel to the sculptural process in documentation of natural order and personal order. In an effort to express my affinity for the relationships I see in the natural environment, it is necessary to introduce the relationship in a physical manner through a combination of metal and natural materials. The sculptural process of repousse \u27 was used to create forms that reflected the energy of natural organic counterparts. The metal is inflicted with my physical strength and molded into organic form while the natural materials are handled with care and protectiveness. The results of my endeavor are constantly evolving through the realization of an approach to the sculptural process that is cyclical and not absolute
