Opinia na temat dawstwa narządów wśród studentów uczelni wyższych Szczecina

Introduction. Organ transplantation represents the best and frequently the unique therapeutic alternative for patients with end stage organ failure and other life limiting conditions. Therefore there is a wide and increasing gap between the number of patients waiting for a transplant and the number of patients that are indeed transplanted. As a result, the time on the waiting lists increases and patients may deteriorate or even die while waiting for an organ. Present situation require multidirectional action to eliminate stereotypes connected with the transplantology. Aim of the study. The purpose of the study is the estimation of opinion about organs’ donation and transplantology among Szczecin’s students. Material and methods. The survey has conducted as a part of the cooperative project with the Department of Nursing of the University of Murcia, Spain. Standardised anonymous research tool was common for all participants. There were surveyed 300 senior year’s students of 3 biggest Szczecin’s University Results and conclusions. Respondents represent a different degree of approval of organ’s donation. Students of medical university demonstrate the highest level of the problem donation’s understanding. There are multiple factors that may have some impact on the potential of donation. The permanent education campaign announcing needs and results of transplanting organs should be conduced in society. Nursing Topics 2010; 18 (2): 111-116Wstęp. Transplantacja narządów stanowi najlepszą i często jedyną alternatywę dla pacjentów z niewydolnością narządów i z innymi życiowymi ograniczeniami. Obecnie istnieje duża i wciąż narastająca różnica między liczbą pacjentów oczekujących na przeszczepienie a osobami, u których przeprowadzono zabieg. Wydłużający się czas oczekiwania skutkuje pogorszeniem stanu chorych, a często ich śmiercią. Konieczne jest wielokierunkowe działanie niwelujące stereotypy dotyczące transplantologii. Cel pracy. Celem pracy było poznanie opinii szczecińskich studentów na temat dawstwa narządów i transplantologii. Materiał i metody. Prezentowane wyniki są częścią projektu badawczego realizowanego we współpracy z Wydziałem Pielęgniarstwa Uniwersytetu w Murcii (Hiszpania). Do badań wykorzystano standaryzowane narzędzie wspólne dla wszystkich uczestników projektu. Badaniem objęto 300 studentów ostatniego roku studiów trzech największych szczecińskich uczelni. Wyniki i wnioski. Odnotowano zróżnicowany stopień akceptacji dawstwa narządów wśród badanej młodzieży w zależności od typu studiów. Studenci kierunków medycznych wykazali się najwyższym stopniem zrozumienia problemu. Istotnym wyznacznikiem jest komunikowanie o gotowości bycia dawcą narządu. Należy prowadzić stałą kampanię edukacyjną o potrzebach i wynikach przeszczepiania narządów. Problemy Pielęgniarstwa 2010; 18 (2): 111-11
