He discusses his educational background, how he became interested in studying Native American ethnology, and his interactions with Native Americans in the field and at the University. He describes the histories of some of the regional Native American tribes, the interactions certain tribes had with whites and other tribes, and the effects that white culture had on Native American culture, especially with regard to religion.
