Disability Rates across America (2015)

This map of the United States is part of the Disability in America Map Series and shows general rates of disability by county. Disability rates are broken into five levels: 4.5-11.6%, 11.61-15%, 15.01-18.7%, 18.71-23.6% and 23.61-36.8%. Rates tend to be highest (23.61-36.8%) in the Southeastern United States (particularly in Appalachia), and lowest (4.5-11.6%) in the Northern Great Plains and Rocky Mountain West.
