Disability in America: People with a Self-Care Difficulty (2015)

This map of the United States shows rates of self-care difficulty by county. Rates are broken into five categories ranging from 0.0% to 15.5%. Rates of self-care difficulty appear to be higher (1.51-15.5%) in the Appalachia region (particularly along the Kentucky-West Virginia border), some areas of the South, northern California and southern Oregon, parts of New Mexico, and northern Idaho. Rates seem lower (0.0-4.5%) in Alaska, the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains regions, and the Midwest. This map is part of the Disability in America Map Series.
