Graduate piano recital

The selection of repertoire for my piano recital is on a theme of Children and Fantasy. My recital begins with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Fantasia in C minor, K.396/ 385f which is based on the fragment of a violin sonata composed by Mozart in Vienna in August or September 1782. Only the first 27 measures were completed including a sketchy violin line which first enters five measures before the end of the section. This was revised and published in 1802 by Maximilian Stadler, an Austrian composer, musicologist and pianist. The next piece is by Frédéric Chopin and his Fantaisie in F minor, Op. 49 contains a distinctive patriotic message, leading from a slow march-like theme at the beginning of the work to the triumphant accents in its closing climax. The first half of my recital ends with Alexander Scriabin’s Prelude and Nocturne for the Left Hand, Op.9. The second half of my program begins with Robert Schumann’s Kinderszene, Op.15 “Scenes from Childhood” and ends with Heitor Villa- Lobos’s A Prole do bebê No.2 (The Baby’s Family).
