Uma análise das publicações sobre sustentabilidade empresarial nos principais periódicos internacionais sobre Engenharia de Produção

The concept of sustainability and of sustainable organizations distinguishes itself from that of the contemporary development model in that it provides favorable characteristics for world development. This transition toward sustainability has challenged all sectors of society, including business. Hence, the objective of this paper is to perform a detailed analysis to demonstrate research patterns, relationships and trends in order to answer some questions. One hundred fifty-one articles appearing over the last two decades in important international publications were reviewed, and 127 of the most relevant to this study were analyzed. The results show a significant concen- tration of applied work at strategic and tactical levels by companies outside Brazil. There is, however, a big challenge for this type of research, which is how to apply the unfolding of the concepts of sustainable development at the operational levels of companies in order to make it possible for them to construct global sustainability within their own businesses, thereby contributing satisfactory results to all areas of society
