Birçok faktöre bağlı olarak gelişen kanserin etiyolojisinde reaktif oksijen türlerinin neden olduğu oksidatif stres önemli yer tutmaktadır. Çalışmamızda parakarsinojen 7,12-dimetilbenz-[a]antrasen (DMBA) uygulanan kobaylarda (Guinea Pig) antioksidan özelliklere sahip alfa-lipoik asit’in (?-LA) makro ve eser element değişikliklerine karşı beyinde koruyucu rolü araştırıldı. Deneylerde; kontrol, DMBA, ?-LA ve DMBA+?-LA gruplarında eşit sayıda toplam 24 erkek kobay kullanıldı. Kobayların beyinlerinde ICP-AES ile yapılan analiz neticesinde, makro elementlerden kalsiyum’un kontrol grubuna göre DMBA grubunda arttığı (P0.05).
