1. Predictions based on several reports and harvest statistics during the last decades have proven a worrying decrease in density and abundance of the rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in the entire distribution area. 2. In this thesis, we applied high quality observation data of rock ptarmigans to examine habitat selection at two scales, across seasons and between different regions. 3. We extracted habitat and terrain variables from a GIS, and modelled habitat selection of rock ptarmigans.
