Glândula Pienal: revisão da anatomia e correlações entre os marca-passos e fotoperíodos na sincronização dos ritmos cardíacos

In the present work, we review the anatomy of the pineal gland and the light influence, to establish the synchronism of the living organisms with the nature cycles and the relationships with the cerebral pace-makers, linking photoperiods and circadian rhythms. The circadian rhythm comprises cyclic functions important for the animal temporal orientation regarding the behavioral strategies to be adopted along of the year. The principal rhythm used for the synchronization with the environment is the light-dark rhythm or photoperiod. One of major components of this rhythm is the pineal gland, which is responsible for the transduction of the photic stimulus into the hormonal secretion of melatonin. Melatonin stimulates target organs such as the suprachiasmatic nucleus and the pituitary gland to send behavior-synchronizing-neural and hormonal signals, which synchronize the photoperiod-dependent-reproductive behavior. Anatomy, embryology, microscopy, vascularization and neural paths are studied, and we concluded that pineal is the most important pace-maker of the light-dark rhythm and the light has a strong influence in the adaptative changes mediated by the pineal.Revisamos neste artigo a anatomia da glândula pineal que sintetiza seu hormônio a melatonina, que tem influência direta no estabelecimento do sincronismo do organismo com os ciclos da natureza, através de suas correlações anatômicas com os sistemas de marca-passos intracerebrais, ligando os fotoperíodos à sincronização. Os ritmos circadianos são funções cíclicas importantes na orientação temporal dos seres vivos em relação às estratégias comportamentais a serem adotadas ao longo do ano. O principal ritmo utilizado para a sincronização com o meio ambiente é o ritmo claro-escuro ou também chamado fotoperíodo. Um dos componentes importantes desse ritmo é a glândula pineal, que faz a transdução do estímulo luminoso, transformando a informação luminosa em secreção hormonal de melatonina. Esta vai atuar em órgãos-alvo, como o núcleo supraquiasmático do hipotálamo e hipófise, que emitem sinais neurais ou hormonais que sincronizam o comportamento, inclusive o reprodutivo. São analisados os aspectos da embriologia, anatomia, microscopia, vascularização e inervação. Conclui-se que a pineal é o principal marcador do ritmo circadiano, e a luz tem forte influência no comportamento de adaptação às mudanças do meio ambiente
