Hunting during the late glacial maximum : environmental features and predation. This article is the first part of a research focused on animal exploitation during the Solutrean period. Hunted species are identified, the part of the favourite game is quantified and hunting diversity is analysed. Results, related to game choices, are discussed in a regional and chronological perspective at the scale of the Upper Palaeolithic. Faunal spectrum analysis of 19 French Solutrean sites leads to the conclusion that hunted species were the same during Aurignacian, Gravettian and Magdalenian periods, and that Reindeer was a particular game.
