International audienceThis paper considers the question of reindeer hunting demography and seasonality during the Upper Paleolithic. Old and recent data from nineteen sites in South-West France are presented and analyzed in detail. It becomes clear that, in most cases, hunters do not seem to have selected individuals for their age. Although reindeer hunting has sometimes been carried out for four or five months of the bad season, it is more difficult to document the continuity of hunting in the course of the annual cycle. The methodology used in age determination and histogram building is also discussed.
