Introdução: A infecção persistente pelo Papilomavírus humano (HPV) é o principal fator causal do câncer do colo do útero, terceira neoplasia de maior incidência em mulheres no Brasil. O exame de rastreamento, colpocitologia oncótica, e a vacina preventiva para o HPV viabilizam a prevenção total dessa neoplasia. Desde 2014 a vacina para HPV está disponível no Sistema Único de Saúde para adolescentes, contudo, a cobertura vacinal na população alvo está abaixo dos 80% preconizados pela Organização Mundial de Saúde, indicando a existências de barreiras à vacinação.
