U.S. represenative Thomas H. Andrews last week came out in opposition to an export loan program which would allow the country of Turkey to borrow up to $1 billion from American banks to buy American-made ships. The move pits Andrews against Bath Iron Works, which has been negotiating with Turkey to provide that country with warships for its navy.
