Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast is developing the Penobscot Shores project, a $5 million hospital-affiliated retirement project that will eventually contain 77 units in one building and 20 cottage units in eight smaller buildings on a 20-acre site overlooking Penobscot Bay. The project is being developed in conjunction with Atlantic Retirement Communities of Massachusetts, which has worked on three similar projects in Maine.
