Jet skis, also known as personal watercraft, are now the leading cause of boating complaints in Maine. New Hampshire banned personal watercraft on roughly 75 percent of that state\u27s lakes in 1992, while Vermont banned them from all ponds under 300 acres. Maine\u27s Great Ponds Task Force was established to address threats to the state\u27s lakes, and the subject of jet skis has dominated the group\u27s discussions. Legislation introduced this year would have regulated personal watercraft, but the bill never made it out of the Legislature.
