Along the Waterfront piece on Herb and Doris Smith of Albion, who skipper their former schooner, Appledore V, for a new owner on day sails out of Boothbay Harbor. In the next three years, they plan to finish a new boat and set sail on their third circumnavigation. Herb Smith is a disciple of the late revered New Hampshire boatbuilder Bud McIntosh, who designed all four of the schooners that the couple built, as well as their new one
