In the past seven years, Pete Grant and Gordon Kelly of Cherryfield and nearly a score of other Washington County residents have taken up the daunting task of building and cultivating cranberry bogs in the area\u27s rough, remote terrain. Maine cranberry growers got a boost from a study that linked consumption of cranberry juice to a decreased risk of bladder infections. Constructing and maintaining cranberry bogs, protecting the cranberries from frost, and hand-weeding them are just some of the tasks of growing the fruit.
