In this paper I try to discuss some of the features of grammar and usage of Canadian English, especially in the Vancouver area. For this purpose I conducted a survey of 47 Canadian citizens in that area. I have also drawn on citations from Canadian newspapers, magazines, and literary and scholarly works in order to cover a wider geographical area as well as to encompass a broader range of styles. The results show that there are few grammatical features which can be called "distinctively Canadian," but that many Canadians follow a mixture of British and American usages, with a strong leaning toward the American pattern in their informal daily life.
