It is a well-known fact that Canadian spelling is a mixture of British and American usage. In this paper I try to clarify Canadian preferences, based on a survey conducted with 47 Canadian citizens in the Vancouver area. The results, which match those of Scargill (1974) and Ireland (1979), show a fairly predictable pattern of choice. It is also shown that American usage is widely accepted in informal daily life, while British usage is preferred on more formal or official occasions.4KJ00004272161論文Articledepartmental bulletin pape
